According to CoinMeta, based on PeckShield data, the crypto industry experienced 50 major hacker attacks in August 2026, setting a new annual high. However, the total loss decreased to approximately $136.3 million, which is a 49.5% reduction from the previous month. Among these, the Tectonic protocol suffered losses of about $74 million, accounting for more than half of the total losses for that month. Despite the increased frequency of attacks, the average loss per attack dropped to around $2.7 million, a significant decrease from $9 million in July. This indicates that although the success rate of attackers has increased, the amount obtained per attack is generally smaller.
