Japanese 30-year government bond yield hits a record high of 4.18%, where will Bitcoin go from here?
2026-09-02 07:07:01
According to CoinMeta, the yield on Japan's 30-year government bonds broke through 4.18% today, setting a new historical high. This movement is part of a broader sell-off that has pushed the yield on Japan's benchmark 10-year government bonds above 3% for the first time. Japan's 30-year bond yield has remained near zero for most of the past decade. As yields have risen, global markets have also been affected, with the yield on U.S. 10-year government bonds climbing to 4.78%, the highest level since 2025. The increase in Japan's long-term yields reflects inflationary pressures and could lead to higher yields globally, which in turn may affect liquidity and risk appetite. Although traditional risk assets have faced sell-offs as yields rise, Bitcoin has remained stable, currently trading at around $78,856, with a gain of about 0.2% during the day.
