According to CoinMeta, the Thai Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced the adoption of new cryptocurrency regulations that require digital asset operators to verify the ownership or control of wallets when making transfers between customers and self-hosted wallets, as well as to collect information from both parties involved in the transactions. These regulations will come into effect on February 27, 2027, and transaction records must be kept for at least five years to be subject to regulatory inspections. The Secretary-General of the SEC, Pornanong Budsaratragoon, stated that these rules are aimed at reducing the risk of digital asset operators being used for money laundering and terrorist financing.
