Multiple institutions submit new regulatory proposals for the US SEC regarding ETF
2026-09-03 03:17:59
According to CoinMeta, crypto companies, asset management firms, market makers, and consumer rights organizations have submitted their opinions to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in response to the public comment period regarding a new regulatory framework for certain digital assets. They suggest extending some of the regulatory exemptions to products traded on non-SEC exchanges. Some argue that regulations should be based on the asset type and risk assessment of the products, and not all new digital assets should be treated as the same category. Others oppose adding new portfolio restrictions for mature digital asset products and recommend using public blockchains for real-time monitoring and verifiable disclosure. There is support for including event-based contracts in registered funds, while some oppose such contracts for retail investors. A decision will be made regarding whether to adopt a unified regulatory framework or to establish rules based on product structure and risk.
