According to CoinMeta, the Australian financial regulatory authority (ASIC) issued a final warning on September 2 to crypto businesses that relied on temporary enforcement exemptions, stating that qualified businesses must apply for the licenses required under the current Financial Services Act by September 30. ASIC indicated that unlicensed businesses may face civil and criminal penalties starting from October 1, with potential fines reaching up to 10% of their annual turnover. Since the guidance was updated in October 2025, ASIC has recorded over 45 license applications related to digital assets.
