According to CoinMeta, on September 3, Pocket Bitcoin stated that a security incident in August exposed the personal and financial information of 5,411 customers, expanding on the scope of the initial disclosure. This Swiss Bitcoin service provider identified two different groups of customers after completing a forensic investigation: one group included the banking transaction information of 5,120 customers, while the other involved more sensitive records of 291 customers. The larger group of customers consisted of transaction lists sent to Pocket Bitcoin by cooperating banks during compliance checks, which contained customer names, residential addresses, transfer amounts, and transaction dates. Pocket Bitcoin has separately contacted the affected customers to provide them with detailed information about their cases. The company stated that the attackers were unable to compromise its main customer or transaction databases, as the records came from backups stored in the affected support systems. Currently, there is no indication that the exposed information has been misused.
