According to CoinMeta, the Financial Services Commission of South Korea announced that it will launch a tokenized securities market in 2027, with plans to implement it in three phases. The final phase will achieve the connection between securities settlement and on-chain payments based on stablecoins. The plan will be launched after the amendment to the Electronic Registration Act comes into effect on February 4, 2027, with the aim of expanding the scope of tokenization to cover the issuance and management of traditional securities. Kwon Dae-yong, the vice chairman of the Financial Services Commission, revealed at a public-private partnership advisory group meeting that the first phase will allow private placement money market funds and bonds of institutional investors to be tokenized. The plan also includes payment infrastructure related to stablecoins and is expected to drive the digitization of securities transactions.
