Connecticut Attorney General Issues Warning on Cryptocurrencies; Investors Lose $200,000

According to CoinMeta, as reported by bitcoin.com and news, Connecticut Attorney General William Tong and the State Bank Commissioner Jorge Perez issued a consumer warning on September 3rd, alerting residents that they could not recover $200,000 deposited with an unregulated DEFI platform. The warning listed seven offshore DEFI platforms, including GMX, Gains Network, dYdX, AEVO, Drift Protocol, Vertex Protocol, and Hyperliquid. It also pointed out that some of these platforms offered leverage of up to 250 times, involving risks related to liquidation, funding fees, smart contracts, and oracles. Officials reminded residents to verify the registration status of crypto services and to report any suspected fraud.
