According to CoinMeta, the Attorney General of Connecticut, William Tong, issued a consumer warning stating that unregulated overseas DEFI cryptocurrency trading platforms may expose retail investors to risks of financial loss, high leverage, and security threats. The announcement listed GMX, Gains Network, dYdX, AEVO, Drift Protocol, Vertex Protocol, and Hyperliquid and advised consumers to confirm whether the platforms are regulated by the United States before depositing funds. The announcement also revealed that a resident of Connecticut was induced by someone claiming to know them to deposit $200,000 into an unregulated DEFI cryptocurrency trading platform, and the funds cannot be recovered at this time.
