Orionx Ceases Operations and Suspends Withdrawals; Audit Reveals a $7 Million Funding Gap

According to CoinMeta, as reported by bitcoin.com and news, Chilean cryptocurrency exchange Orionx announced the cessation of its operations and suspended user withdrawals. A forensic audit revealed that over $7 million in custodied assets were transferred to wallets outside the company's control. Orionx accused former partners Joaqu in Dí az, Roberto Zibert, and other former employees of being involved in related transactions between 2018 and 2021, and has filed a report with the Chilean national prosecution authorities. The Chilean Financial Markets Commission (CMF) stated that Orionx did not have the necessary authorization, and its operations did not comply with the Financial Technology Act. Orionx indicated that it is unable to guarantee that users will be able to retrieve all their funds.
