AI Acting as an agent to trade your funds? The risks of automatic investment are still to be verified
2026-09-06 20:00:27
According to CoinMeta, as reported by Coinpaper, AI agents can now trade cryptocurrencies and access investment accounts. The risks of automated investing and the safeguards that investors should require are drawing attention. Coinbase launched Coinbase in June 2026, which allows AI agents to directly connect to user accounts for trading, payments, and executing workflows. German broker Scalable Capital has also opened its investment platform to major AI assistants, allowing customers to analyze their portfolios and initiate trades through a AI interface. FINRA defines AI agents as systems that are capable of planning, making decisions, and taking action, warning that they may exceed their intended permissions, be difficult to audit, handle sensitive information improperly, or make wrong decisions due to a lack of sufficient knowledge in the financial field. Investors may be concerned about whether AI can correctly predict the market, but wrong trading decisions could lead to direct financial losses. FINRA emphasizes that the scope and permissions of AI agents are one of the central risks involved.
