Uzbekistan Launches Pilot Program for Stablecoin humo Based on Government Securities Collateral

According to CoinMeta, the National Forward-looking Projects Agency of Uzbekistan and the central bank have launched a pilot program for stablecoin payments secured by government securities. humo and digital have been approved to test a stablecoin humo pegged to the som at a 1:1 ratio within a regulatory sandbox, with over 20 merchants participating. The pilot involves the issuance, circulation, and redemption processes of this stablecoin. asterium licensed cryptocurrency exchanges serve as partners in this initiative, which will last for 12 months with a total duration limit of 3 years. Regulatory authorities will assess the adequacy of collateral, network security, consumer protection, anti-money laundering measures, as well as financial and price stability risks. This pilot is based on a framework approved in November 2025, which allows for stablecoin payment pilots within a sandbox and includes provisions for tokenizing stocks and bonds.
