According to CoinMeta, Coinbase stated that they have collaborated with Stanford University's cryptography professor Dan Boneh and localhost research to hold a closed-door "Post-Quantum Bitcoin Seminar" at Stanford University. This seminar brought together Bitcoin developers, cryptography experts, researchers, institutional custodians, and hardware wallet experts to discuss the technologies and migration plans necessary for Bitcoin to address future quantum computing threats. The participants believed that it is crucial to establish well-tested response plans in advance. Although quantum computing does not currently pose an urgent crisis, the earlier research and coordination begin, the better, in order to avoid hasty network upgrades and asset migrations under pressure in the future.
