According to CoinMeta, hardware wallet manufacturer Ledger has appointed former Fireblocks executive Oded Blatman as the Chief Information Officer and Chief Security Officer, responsible for network and infrastructure security, product security, physical and office location security, internal IT, and corporate risk management. Blatman stated that AI is making it more costly and time-consuming for attackers to find vulnerabilities, making attacks more complex and easier to scale. Ledger noted that attackers are increasingly using AI to carry out phishing and deepfake impersonations. DefiLlama data shows that as of 2026, hackers have stolen approximately $1.4 billion from the crypto industry through around 250 attacks, while in 2025, 146 attacks resulted in a loss of about $2.7 billion for the year.
