According to CoinMeta, Galaxy Digital CEO Mike Novogratz stated that there is still a path forward for the Clear Act, despite several months of setbacks. He said on social media, "The Clear Act is not dead! There was a lot of negotiation over the weekend. My intuition is that the act will move onto the voting stage." He pointed out that the biggest obstacle in legislation is the language of the government ethics provisions. The act is scheduled to undergo a key procedural vote in the Senate on September 15th. Patrick Witt, the executive director of the Digital Assets Advisory Committee, also expressed optimism. The Senate Banking Committee passed the legislation with a vote of 15-9 in May, and an updated text was released in July; the 630-page text contains changes related to decentralized finance. The vote on Tuesday will determine whether the act can move forward to full consideration. Lummis warned that if the act fails, crypto users will lose federal protection, and another opportunity may not come until 2030.
