According to CoinMeta, Wu said that he learned that the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York has filed a civil forfeiture lawsuit seeking to confiscate approximately $61 million in crypto assets, alleging that these funds came from the black market sales of sanctioned crude oil and petroleum products and were intended to support relevant government agencies as well as the Islamic Revolutionary Guard (IRGC). The prosecution alleges that Blessed Trust and Hexa Whale assisted in transferring the related funds through Binance trading accounts. A network of associated on-chain addresses known as “Entity A” received and distributed over $1.5 billion in proceeds from such oil sales, and transferred funds to currency service providers, crypto addresses, and crypto exchanges related to IRGC. The case is currently in the civil forfeiture process, and the allegations have not yet been confirmed by a court ruling.
