Dunamu and NAVER face regulatory compliance challenges in share swap transactions
2026-09-16 14:36:22
According to CoinMeta, the share exchange transactions between Dunamu and subsidiaries of NAVER are subject to South Korea's 'Fair Trade Act' and restrictions on the percentage of shares held in virtual asset exchanges. Under South Korea's 'Fair Trade Act', a controlling company must hold no less than 30% of the shares in listed subsidiaries and no less than 50% in unlisted subsidiaries, while for venture capital holding companies, the requirement is 20%. If NAVER Pay becomes a holding company and includes the exchange as one of its subsidiaries, it will need to adjust its governance structure to meet these shareholding standards. Additionally, discussions regarding South Korea's virtual asset legislation also involve limits on the maximum shareholding by major shareholders of exchanges. (Source: Yonhap News Agency)
