Anthropic The "independent third party" appointed is questioned: the founder's circle has intricate relationships with the company

According to CoinMeta, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei advocates for third-party evaluation firms such as Metr to be permanently involved in cutting-edge AI companies to inspect security measures and model training processes. However, an investigation by The New York Times revealed that the relationship between Metr and Anthropic is much closer than that of a typical external audit. Metr was originally named ARC Evals and originated from Paul Christiano's Alignment Research Center. Christiano has worked with Amodei at OpenAI, and the two were once roommates. The current technical staff member Metr, Ajeya Cotra, is the wife of Christiano. Metr failed to implement applicable conflict of interest policies when evaluating Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, and Meta, and disclosed that at least six employees had close personal relationships with employees of AI. Metr stated that they do not accept funding from cutting-edge AI companies and charge no fees for risk assessments, but these companies provide models token for free.
