Micron Technology shares weakened on Tuesday as the market continued to reduce its holdings in semiconductor companies related to AI infrastructure. Investors are concerned that the massive investments in data centers, servers, and computing equipment may not yield corresponding returns.
AI spending expectations cool down.
Chip stocks generally came under pressure over the past day. Nvidia, Applied Materials, SanDisk, and SK Hynix all declined. Market focus is on whether AI capital expenditure can continue to support demand for high-bandwidth memory, DRAM, and other products.
Competition from China is also bringing new pressure. Changxin Memory recently made a high-profile market debut, and it is believed that this company is expected to help China reduce its dependence on overseas memory manufacturers and increase competition with Micron, Samsung Electronics, and SK Hynix.
Financial results remain strong
Despite the decline in stock price, Micron's operating data remains robust. The company reported record revenue of $41.46 billion for the third quarter of fiscal year 2026, far exceeding the $23.86 billion of the previous quarter and also higher than the $9.3 billion of the same period last year.
The company expects fourth-quarter revenue of approximately $50 billion, citing strong memory prices and continued AI demand. Micron also projects non-GAAP diluted earnings per share of approximately $31 and stated that tight supply of high-bandwidth memory and DRAM may continue beyond 2027.
What to look forward to next

Micron's stock price may continue to fluctuate based on anticipated AI demand. The market will continue to monitor the pace of industry expansion, competition from Chinese manufacturers, and whether there will be an oversupply of memory chips.
