According to CoinMeta, Visa CEO Ryan McInerney stated that Visa will maintain a neutral stance towards stablecoins as the upcoming Open USD enters a market dominated by USDT and Circle's USDC. During the financial report conference call on July 28th, McInerney emphasized that Visa will continue to support a variety of stablecoins and blockchains and plans to help customers securely connect to adopted stablecoins, networks, and infrastructure. Visa is one of over 140 companies that support Open Standard; this independent alliance is developing Open USD. McInerney's comments indicate that Visa does not regard its participation as an exclusive commitment to Open USD. Visa also supports a variety of stablecoins through settlement, card, and fund transfer products. Open Standard plans to launch Open USD in 2026, with the website stating that enterprises will be able to mint and redeem OUSD without any fees or volume restrictions.
