According to CoinMeta, the South Korean government has confirmed that it will levy taxes on earnings from crypto assets in 2027, with the highest tax rate reaching 22%, and there is a basic deduction of 2.5 million Korean won. Vice Prime Minister Ju Yun-jeok stated that the government expects this policy to take effect as planned on January 1, 2027. Although the policy has been postponed three times before, the government still plans to make some revisions based on actual issues after its implementation. Under the current framework, investors can enjoy a basic annual deduction of 2.5 million Korean won; earnings exceeding this amount will be subject to a national tax rate of 20%, and local taxes may bring the total tax burden to 22%.
