Barclays: Eurozone interest rates trapped in a cycle of hope and fear
2026-07-31 14:26:20
According to CoinMeta, interest rate strategists at Barclays Bank pointed out in a report that interest rates in the eurozone are still trapped in an “endless cycle of hope and fear,” with German government bonds experiencing their worst performance in over two decades in July. They stated that although cheaper yield levels may make it easier to absorb supply after the summer, front-end interest rates and global factors still dominate the situation. Additionally, they mentioned that the yield on 10-year German government bonds, at 3.15%, which is on the lower end of the range, is still affected by conflicts in the Middle East and their impact on growth, inflation, and monetary policy.
