According to CoinMeta, Cardano ( Cardano ) celebrated the ninth anniversary of the issuance of its genesis block on September 23, 2026. The network's first genesis block was created on September 23, 2017, and the mainnet went live six days later on September 29, 2017, introducing the ADA token. Since the genesis block, Cardano has processed over 123.9 million transactions, established 2,890 staking pools, completed 1,397,811 blocks, and received 36,322 votes in 158 governance actions. The Cardano Foundation noted that over the past nine years, the network has undergone 11 major upgrades, including Byron, Shelley, Allegra, Mary, Alonzo, Lobster, Vasil, Valentine, Chang, Plomin, and Van Rossem. In the future, Cardano will continue to advance its roadmap for expansion; Hydra is its layer-two expansion solution, while Leios and Peras are expected to be launched in November 2026 and the second quarter of 2027, respectively.
