Patrick Witt: Trump's personal crypto interests have not hindered the advancement of Clarity Act
2026-09-24 02:54:51
According to CoinMeta, Executive Director of the White House Digital Assets Advisory Committee, Patrick Witt, stated that Trump's personal interests in cryptocurrencies did not hinder the Clarity Act from passing in the Senate, and accused Democrats of politicizing the issue and banking lobbyists of obstructing the bill. He said that Trump agreed to accept rules for mandatory divestment of crypto assets or placement in blind trusts, and allowed attorneys general of various states to file lawsuits for ethical violations. Witt pointed out that some senators hold shares in financial services companies under their supervision, and banking lobbyists are pushing for the postponement of the bill due to concerns about stablecoin competition.
