According to CoinMeta, as reported by bits and media, the Russian Central Bank announced on September 23 that it would expand the range of assets that unit investment funds (PIF / UIF) can invest in. Funds targeting qualified investors will be permitted to invest in derivative instruments based on cryptocurrency prices that are settled in cash. The relevant regulations have been registered with the Russian Ministry of Justice and will come into effect 10 days after their official announcement, with some provisions being exceptions. At the same time, the Russian Central Bank has also relaxed the allocation range for retail funds to unlisted stocks, bonds, and other assets, but the official announcement does not state that retail funds can directly purchase cryptocurrencies.
