According to CoinMeta, a 23-year-old man from Brooklyn named Ronald Spektor was sentenced to 4 to 12 years in prison for impersonating the customer service of Coinbase and deceiving approximately 100 American users into transferring cryptocurrencies, resulting in a total theft of nearly $15.94 million. He is also required to compensate nearly $16 million. In addition, he had his cash, cryptocurrencies, and personal property, valued at over $500,000, confiscated.
