SEC Launches Innovative Exemptions to Promote Tokenized Stock Trading in the United States
2026-09-25 22:48:46
According to CoinMeta, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) created a temporary framework on September 17 that allows for limited trading of tokenized U.S. stocks on qualified on-chain trading venues. This innovative exemption is valid for five years and permits qualified venues that use automated market makers and liquidity pools to trade certain tokenized stocks listed on U.S. exchanges without the need to register with the SEC. This move marks an important step towards tokenization entering regulated mainstream markets. SEC Chair Paul Atkins described this exemption as a "bridge towards lasting rule-making."
