According to CoinMeta, a Vietnamese man named Trung Nguyen Van has been prosecuted by the Federal Prosecutors' Office in Missouri, USA, for allegedly participating in a cryptocurrency scam that amounted to 16 million US dollars and being charged with money laundering. Victims invested in crypto assets through a fraudulent platform called Triangle during the summer of 2024, with the funds being transferred into the suspect's personal wallet. In addition, American victims suffered losses of 2 million US dollars, and such scams have caused approximately 10 million US dollars in losses globally.
