CoinMeta Data: On September 24, Bitget, the exchange confirmed a security vulnerability involving approximately $351.6 million, as its security system detected unauthorized transfers from some hot wallets. An emergency response plan was initiated, and withdrawals were temporarily suspended until the investigation is completed. Gracy Chen, the CEO of Bitget, stated that the incident affected the hot and warm wallet layers of Bitget; cold wallets remained secure, and users' account balances and assets were protected. The scale of losses from this incident makes it one of the major crypto hacking incidents involving centralized exchanges. All losses will be covered by the exchange's user protection fund, which currently holds over $464 million. The exchange's security team detected the unauthorized transfers within minutes and activated an emergency response; relevant parties have been notified, and law enforcement agencies as well as online security companies are also participating in the investigation. Although withdrawals are temporarily suspended, deposits and transactions continue to proceed. Bitget plans to release hourly updates through official channels and will issue a complete incident report within 24 hours, including an analysis of the root causes and corrective measures.
