FedNow Cross-border payment services do not use stablecoins
2026-09-27 13:48:28
CoinMeta data: According to Coin Bureau, the Federal Reserve's real-time payment service FedNow is being extended to cross-border payments, but stablecoins are not used in this process. FedNow will handle the U.S.-related portion of international payments, which will be settled in dollars, while the corresponding overseas portions will be processed by correspondent banks. This puts stablecoins in direct competition, as banks now have a 24/7 regulated alternative for faster cross-border payments.
