Bitcoin traders chase bears as rising Treasury yields affect gold

The number of open contracts is 652,000 BTC, which is the lowest level of the year and a significant decrease from 800,000 BTC at the beginning of the year. Despite Bitcoin rising by 40% in the third quarter, traders are still avoiding leveraged trading, and the perpetual fund fee rate has turned negative again, with the average fee rate on major exchanges being -0.3%. This indicates that short sellers are actively pursuing trades and are willing to pay a cost to longs in order to maintain their bearish bets. Bitcoin prices fell 2% despite Trump not ruling out further strikes against Iran, but they are still more than $20,000 above the summer cycle low and remain the best-performing asset of the third quarter. Gold fell 3% in the past 24 hours, with a trading price of around $4,150 per ounce. The ratio of Bitcoin to gold is close to 20, approaching a positive value for the year.
