German union leader condemns Audi CEO for attending Trump event

According to CoinMeta, Christian Benna, chairman of the German Metal Industry Union (IG Metall), strongly condemned Audi's CEO Gudrun's attendance at Trump's campaign event in Georgia, describing the move as "extremely embarrassing" and stating that it exacerbated tensions surrounding Audi's restructuring plans. During the event, Trump announced that Audi planned to invest about $4 billion near Macon to build a new factory for producing its largest SUV model. Gudrun thanked Trump for his support at the time and called the project a "great opportunity" between Audi and the United States. Benna warned that labor representatives would have a say in the advancement of this factory construction plan, and worker representatives were still seeking guarantees for Audi and Volkswagen's German factories. Any new American factory would ultimately need to be approved by Volkswagen's supervisory board, of which employees hold half of the seats.
