According to CoinMeta, Germany's business prospects have improved unexpectedly for the sixth consecutive month, highlighting that the country's economy is recovering from a long period of downturn. The forecast index released by Germany's ifo Economic Institute rose from 90.4 last month to 91.6 in October. Economists had previously predicted that the index would fall slightly to 90. Meanwhile, the index that measures the current economic situation declined slightly unexpectedly. The head of the ifo, Clemens Fuest, stated, "The economic recovery continues, but businesses are somewhat pessimistic about the current situation." Despite inflation triggered by the Iran war and heatwaves that have disrupted important waterway transportation, Germany's economic performance this year has been surprisingly strong as Europe's largest economy. Large-scale spending in infrastructure, defense, and AI sectors has supported economic expansion. The German government has recently raised its economic growth forecast for 2026 to 1.3%.
