According to CoinMeta, the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has advanced a voluntary federal registration path to enable crypto exchanges to be more closely aligned with the protections of the U.S. derivatives market. CFTC Chair Gary Gensler stated that the agency is developing this path with the aim of providing the crypto market with the same protections as the traditional derivatives market. On October 5th, the CFTC launched a public comment period on crypto asset trading and issued a notice of proposed rules that cover the regulatory framework for crypto asset trading. This framework focuses on retail commodity transactions involving leverage, margin, or financing.
