Dutch crypto industry organization warns that wealth tax reform may force investors to sell crypto assets

According to CoinMeta, and as reported by Bloomberg, a Dutch cryptocurrency industry organization has warned that the government's proposed wealth tax reform could force investors to sell their crypto assets. Under the current proposal, investors who directly hold cryptocurrencies, gold, and foreign currencies will still be required to pay taxes on unrealized gains annually until at least 2030, even if they have not sold the assets yet. In contrast, products traded on cryptocurrency-related exchanges (ETP) will be subject to the new capital gains tax regime, with taxation only occurring when gains are realized. The industry organization believes that this differential treatment could lead to funds flowing from directly held crypto assets to related financial products.
