According to CoinMeta, as reported by the Spanish news agency EFE, the Spanish National Guard's investigation found that during the collapse of the cryptocurrency Ponzi scheme ARBISTAR in September 2020, 881 units of BTC were transferred to other wallets, which were worth approximately 32.5 million euros (about 36.4 million US dollars) a few months later. From January to March 2021, the transactions in the wallets of the individuals involved amounted to over 20,000 units of BTC, valued at around 710 million euros (about 795 million US dollars) at that time. The investigation revealed that the individuals in question used coin mixing services to conceal the source of the funds, with some of the money flowing to relatives of company management personnel. ARBISTAR had previously been sentenced for defrauding about 32,000 investors and involving more than 200 million euros. The Spanish National Court has now reversed its previous decision to not expand the scope of the money laundering investigation.
