Reuters survey: Global high inflation expected to continue into next year

According to CoinMeta, a Reuters survey indicates that the high inflation trend in the global economy will continue into next year. Economists are increasingly concerned that, in addition to the rising energy costs caused by conflicts in the Middle East, the pressure of rising prices may become entrenched. Since last year, global investment in the AI sector has exceeded one trillion dollars. Most central banks have only raised interest rates a few times previously, or not at all, but if inflationary pressures further spread, more central banks may take action to raise rates in the future. In recent months, the global bond market has seen sell-offs, leading to higher yields and thus tightening the financial environment. Since October 7th, crude oil prices have remained above $100 per barrel. Since the outbreak of conflicts in the Middle East about eight months ago, oil prices have risen by more than 60%. This month, Reuters surveyed over 500 economists worldwide and found that among the 50 economies surveyed, economists raised their inflation forecasts for 31 of them for 2027, as well as their economic growth forecasts for 23 economies. This suggests that concerns about inflation are spreading and are beginning to affect economies that usually experience lower price pressures.
