According to CoinMeta, as consumers' views on the job market and business environment improved, U.S. consumer confidence rebounded unexpectedly in October, marking the first increase in four months. Data to be released by the Council of Economic Advisers on Tuesday shows that the Consumer Confidence Index rose by 7.5 points to 91.7 in October, reaching its highest level since June and far exceeding economists' expected median of 81.0. The index, which reflects consumers' expectations for the next six months, rose by nearly 7 points to 72.6 in October, while the index measuring the current economic situation also reached a six-month high. Ferguson McCormick, a senior economist at the Council of Economic Advisers, said that the rebound in consumer confidence is consistent with the decline in retail gasoline prices from September to October. However, despite the improvement in October, consumer confidence is still within the long-term downward trend that has persisted over the past few years.
