High U.S. Treasury yields and mortgage rates, tightening financing conditions for businesses

According to CoinMeta, recent data from the U.S. Treasury Department shows that the yield on 10-year U.S. Treasuries reached 5.31% on October 5th and then fell back to 4.99% as of October 27th. Despite the decline, it has still risen by about 84 basis points this year, indicating that long-term financing costs remain high. Meanwhile, data from Fannie Mae shows that as of October 22nd, the average interest rate for 30-year fixed-rate mortgages in the United States was 7.32%, which is still higher than the 6.95% recorded in September. In addition, Sage Advisory pointed out that the credit spreads for corporate bonds have widened by 12 basis points and 67 basis points respectively compared to the time of the September meeting, suggesting that the tightening pressure in the credit market has not subsided. PIMCO's calculations indicate that financial conditions in the United States are still relatively loose, and the rise in long-term interest rates may reduce the necessity for the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates. Kathy Bostjancic, the chief economist at Nationwide, believes that although economic and inflation data support interest rate hikes, the sharp rise in long-term U.S. Treasury yields could lead to an economic slowdown that exceeds the Federal Reserve's expectations.
