AI Debt concerns drive funds into U.S. Treasury bonds

According to CoinMeta, AI debt concerns have prompted funds to flow into U.S. Treasury bonds, but the problem of the U.S.'s $40 trillion debt still exists. As Treasury bond yields have fallen from their October highs, Wall Street's largest bond market's concern may no longer be the Federal Reserve. Investors are focusing on whether the debt-driven AI boom can sustain the massive financing demands. The yield on U.S. 10-year Treasury bonds rose by about 84 basis points in 2026, despite a recent rebound in bond prices. Goldman Sachs estimates that debt issuance by ultra-large corporations could reach $420 billion in 2027, which is about 60% higher than expected for 2026. The bond yield of CoreWeave, a cloud computing partner of NVIDIA, is close to 15%, reflecting concerns about its financing capacity. The company's credit default swap is over 1000 basis points, indicating that investors are demanding higher compensation for potential credit losses. Despite a recovery in the Treasury bond market, Washington's growing borrowing needs remain a challenge, with federal debt at around $40 trillion and an annual budget deficit approaching 6% of GDP.
