According to foreign media reports, Zhao Changpeng, the founder of Binance, stated at the Bitcoin Asia event held in Hong Kong that Bitcoin will ultimately be more important than gold, and this change may occur in the next bull market. He believes that the current obstacle is not technological, but rather the existing gold holdings and valuation systems of sovereign institutions and large countries.

It will still take time for sovereign funds to shift their direction.

Zhao Changpeng was asked on the spot whether Bitcoin could surpass gold in terms of sovereign holdings, to which he said he was "very certain." He mentioned that many major countries have already established mechanisms for gold reserves, custody, and valuation, and shifting this system to Bitcoin will not be completed quickly.

However, he believes that this process is already underway. According to him, the market value gap between gold and Bitcoin has narrowed to about 10 times, so Bitcoin could "soon" catch up with gold.

It is recommended that the government allocate reserves based on market value.

Zhao Changpeng also stated that he usually advises some governments to establish reserves of crypto assets, and the method of allocation is not complicated. According to his description, if stablecoins are excluded and the top five crypto assets are allocated based on market value, the result would roughly be:

  • Bitcoin accounts for about 50%.
  • Ethereum accounts for about 10% to 20%.
  • The remaining parts include assets such as BNB.

This part of the statement more reflects his personal views and is also in line with his long-standing stance of supporting encrypted reserve configurations.

AI Use agents or settle in stablecoins first.

In addition to Bitcoin, Zhao Changpeng also discussed the combination of AI with crypto assets. He expects that in the future, AI agents will first use stablecoins for transactions. Once the system accepts stablecoins, it will be easier to integrate Bitcoin as well.

He also mentioned that he had discussed token issuance plans with several leading AI companies. These companies are facing high capital expenditure pressures, especially in terms of computing power and data center construction. According to him, investing 1 gigawatt of computing power may cost between 30 and 50 billion US dollars, and some companies hope to build facilities with hundreds of gigawatts of capacity in the coming years, which could result in capital needs reaching trillions of US dollars.

In this context, a model that is being discussed is the “data center token.” Such tokens may in the future correspond to rewards, computing power resources, and could also be extended to include subscription services and access rights to models.

Transaction scenario or prior to payment completion

Zhao Changpeng believes that the adoption speed of AI in the transaction field may be faster than that in the payment field. The reason is that even if AI helps consumers find products during shopping, the payment can still be completed manually by the consumers themselves. However, transactions are different; information collection and the speed of responding to news changes are more critical in transactions.

He claims that AI can bring about a nearly 10-fold increase in efficiency in such scenarios. Regarding the price of Bitcoin, he also stated that reaching $1 million would be "a good thing," and it may not even take 25 years to happen.

Zhao Changpeng also emphasized that, rather than the price itself, he is more concerned about the expansion of the practical uses of Bitcoin, including large-scale payments, as well as its inclusion in pension systems or long-term reserve schemes.
