Ethereum: Foreign media: Jupiter Lend still cannot shake Aave and Morpho

Foreign media reports that Jupiter Lend is growing rapidly, but at this stage it is still difficult to compete head-on with Aave and Morpho in terms of scale. The core difference lies in the combination model of lending and trading liquidity on Solana.

Foreign media commentators believe that by comparing Jupiter Lend solely within the context of the Solana lending protocol, its current leading position is easily exaggerated. If compared with Ethereum's Aave and Morpho, it appears more like an emerging protocol challenging two established giants, rather than a competition among three entities on an equal footing.

Jupiter Lend still mainly relies on Solana.

Jupiter Lend currently has a total locked-up value of about $1.1 billion, with active loans amounting to approximately $939 million. All its operations are concentrated in Solana. In the past 30 days, its TVL has grown by over 17%, but according to the criteria of DeFiLlama, it still does not rank among the top five in lending agreements.

The article mentions that since its launch in August 2025, this protocol has expanded rapidly. One of the reasons is by leveraging the existing transaction distribution capabilities of Jupiter. More importantly, it combines lending with transaction liquidity by introducing features such as Smart Collateral and Smart Debt, allowing some deposits and loans to generate earnings or offset costs through exchange activities within the same fund pool.

The premise of this design is the low transaction fees and faster confirmation times of Solana. The article argues that this makes it easier for users to frequently adjust their positions, reuse collateral, and allows the same amount of funds to serve both as loan capital and as trading liquidity at the same time. If implemented on the Ethereum mainnet, the Gas costs associated with frequent position adjustments would significantly reduce the profit margins of such strategies.

The advantages of Aave and Morpho still lie in their scale.

Aave remains the largest protocol in the lending sector compared to DeFi. Aave V3 currently has a value of approximately $17.2 billion, deployed on 21 chains, with about 84% of that coming from Ethereum. Calculated on an annualized basis, its transaction fee revenue is around $809 million, which is significantly higher than the overall level of Solana lending protocols. In the past 30 days, the TVL of Aave has increased by about 25%.

Aave adopts a shared fund pool model. Each time it is deployed, the supported assets are concentrated in the same liquidity pool, and Aave DAO adjusts the parameters through governance voting. The article argues that the advantage of this structure lies in its greater depth; large borrowers can borrow tens of millions of dollars at once without significantly increasing interest rates. This is also something that Jupiter Lend, which has a scale of only about 1 billion US dollars, currently finds difficult to achieve.

Morpho follows a different approach. Morpho Blue is more like a underlying lending framework, where anyone can create independent markets without permission and set their own collateral assets, oracles, and risk parameters. The deposited funds are then allocated to these markets through treasuries managed by different curators. Morpho Currently, TVL amounts to about 9.6 billion US dollars, ranking second among lending protocols, with an increase of approximately 26% in the past 30 days, which is roughly close to that of Aave.

The article argues that the attractiveness of Morpho lies in its higher efficiency of capital utilization and its ability to support a wider range of collateral, including less common ones. However, the trade-off is that depositors' risks become more dependent on the management quality of the chosen vault. If issues arise in a particular market, although it may not necessarily drag down the entire protocol, it could still have a direct impact on the funds within that respective vault.

The competitive advantage of Jupiter Lend does not lie in the total volume.

The article argues that the most apparent difference among the three is still their scale. The $17.2 billion of Aave and the $9.6 billion of Morpho are approximately 16 times and 9 times that of Jupiter Lend respectively. At this stage, it would not be accurate to describe Jupiter Lend as being able to pose a direct challenge to the two leading Ethereum lending platforms.

What is more noteworthy are the directions in which each of the three protocols is optimizing. Aave emphasizes the depth of liquidity and market trust accumulated over the years; Morpho bets on a more modular lending market structure; Jupiter Lend attempts to utilize the low-cost environment of Solana to more closely integrate lending with transaction liquidity.

The article concludes that whether Jupiter Lend can catch up with Aave or Morpho on TVL in the short term is not the most realistic issue. What is more crucial is whether Solana can continue to attract a sufficient amount of high-frequency, transaction-oriented capital, allowing this type of lending model that relies on frequent rebalancing at low costs to continue to expand. If the scale of this capital increases, then Jupiter Lend will have a better chance of establishing its own position in niche markets.
