On the last trading day of August, the crypto market maintained a divergent trend amidst rising risk aversion. The strengthening US dollar, rising oil prices, and tensions related to Iran put pressure on risky assets, but Bitcoin still held above $78,000, indicating that buying interest had not significantly faded.
Bitcoin continues to rise significantly within the month
Bitcoin fell below $77,000 on Monday before regaining some of its losses, with a 24-hour decline of less than 1%. Despite short-term pressure, its cumulative gain in August still exceeds 24%, and it is poised to record one of the strongest monthly performances in recent years.
From a funding perspective, institutional buying continues. Strategy resumed purchasing Bitcoin last week, which is the company's first increase in holdings since late June.
- Strategy bought 4,603 BTC last week.
- Total amount is approximately 369.7 million US dollars.
- The average purchase price is approximately $80,318.
The company stated that this transaction was primarily funded through the sale of common shares. The remaining funds will be used to repurchase the STRC preferred stocks and to replenish cash reserves.

Solana Remains Ahead of Mainstream Coins During the Week
Solana led the decline among mainstream crypto assets on Monday, falling by about 3% in the past 24 hours. However, looking at the weekly performance, SOL is still significantly stronger than most large tokens. The token once rose to $110 over the weekend, then fell back to around $102, but still managed to gain more than 7% in the past week.
Calculated based on the top ten crypto assets by market capitalization, Solana was one of the tokens with the strongest performance last week. If we look at the entire month, SOL has seen a cumulative increase of over 40% in August, and is on track to record the largest single-month gain since 2024.
In addition to price, the Solana network also maintains a high level of activity. Reports mention that the network continues to rank first in DEX trading volume over daily, weekly, and monthly periods. Last week, Solana also completed 3 major governance proposal votes and recorded the highest number of token issuances in a single week, with over 800,000 new tokens created.
Spot Solana ETF records the best single-week inflow of the year
The configuration for institutional funds in Solana is also being enhanced. Last week, there was a net inflow of over $153 million in the US spot market of Solana ETF, marking the strongest single-week performance since 2026 and also a new high for the year.
The report indicates that only in the week of October 2025, when the US spot Solana ETF was first listed, was the inflow higher than this level. This means that against the backdrop of falling prices, institutional funds continue to flow into related products.
In addition to Strategy, Bitcoin treasury company Strive also purchased 1,800 BTC last week, with a transaction amount of approximately $143 million and an average price of around $79,431 per coin. After the purchase, Strive's bitcoin holdings increased to 23,156 coins, valued at nearly $1.8 billion according to the data in the text.
Oil prices break above $90, suppressing risk appetite
At the macro level, the situation in the Middle East has once again pushed up energy prices. Reports indicate that after the U.S. military struck Iranian rocket launch facilities, related retaliatory actions affected local military bases, leading to a rapid rise in crude oil prices.
Among them, Brent crude oil rose by more than 3% to above $90 per barrel, while WTI crude oil increased by 3% to $86.3. The rising oil prices have once again sparked concerns about inflation in the market and may also create a more complex environment for the Federal Reserve's subsequent interest rate path.

Against this backdrop, the crypto market may still continue to be influenced by macroeconomic sentiment in the short term. However, judging from the capital flows and corporate buying at ETF and Solana, institutional demand is currently providing support for Bitcoin and Solana.
