US-listed spot Bitcoin ETF saw its strongest monthly performance of the year in August, with both capital inflows and asset size increasing simultaneously. However, on the first trading day of September, there was a noticeable pullback in capital flows, indicating that the previous strong momentum has not yet been consolidated.
August net inflow rose to $3.52 billion
Data shows that US spot Bitcoin ETF had a total net inflow of $3.52 billion in August, a significant increase from $172 million in July. This is also the best single-month performance since October 2025.
During the same period, Bitcoin rose by approximately 25% in August, recording its strongest monthly increase since November 2024. Among the 21 trading days in August, there were 16 days with net capital inflows, and from August 17 to August 27, there were even 9 consecutive trading days of capital attraction.
Fund assets approach $100 billion
With rising prices and the influx of new funds, the total net assets of spot Bitcoin ETF reached $99.61 billion at the end of August, an increase of about 31% from $76.29 billion at the end of July, and it is now close to the $100 billion mark.
In August, trading activity also increased, with the monthly turnover rising to 58.63 billion US dollars, an increase of about 49% compared to the previous month. Looking at the growth rate, the expansion of ETF assets has been faster than the increase in Bitcoin prices, indicating that asset growth is not solely driven by rising coin prices; new subscription funds have also played a significant role.

- In August, the net inflow was 3.52 billion US dollars.
- Net inflow in July was 172 million US dollars.
- Total net assets reached $99.61 billion by the end of August.
The year-on-year outflow gap has significantly narrowed.
The capital inflow in August also significantly alleviated the cumulative outflow pressure on such products in 2026. From the beginning of the year to date, the net outflow has narrowed from approximately $5.29 billion at the end of July to $1.77 billion at the end of August.
This means that the inflows in August alone have made up for approximately two-thirds of the outflows from the earlier part of this year. For the market, the re-strengthening of ETF funds is one of the important supports for the temporary rebound of Bitcoin.
On the first day of September, it turned into a net outflow.
However, the strong momentum of August did not continue smoothly into September. On September 1st, US spot Bitcoin ETF recorded a net outflow of $236.46 million, which not only reversed the previous day's net inflow of $216.7 million but also set a new record for the largest single-day outflow since July 31st.
This change indicates that although the funding situation improved significantly in August, short-term sentiment may still fluctuate rapidly with price movements. Whether funds can return to a net inflow in September will become one of the important signals for observing the subsequent trend of Bitcoin. ETF
