As the capabilities of cutting-edge artificial intelligence models continue to improve in programming, vulnerability detection, and automated network operations, the Bitcoin community has begun to discuss a new type of security concern: open-source infrastructure may be reviewed by machines at higher speeds and on a larger scale.
An anonymous individual who has been actively involved in the Bitcoin community for a long time, CobraBitcoin, indicated that he is paying attention to "the next major vulnerability incident." He mentioned that many key components of Bitcoin use an open-source model, which means that Bitcoin Core, Lightning Network implementations, wallets, and related code libraries could all be quickly analyzed by more sophisticated AI systems.
New model enhances vulnerability exploitation capabilities
This statement came after OpenAI and Anthropic successively released new models. The report mentioned that OpenAI launched GPT-6 and Astra, while Anthropic released Claude Fable 5.1; both are designed to handle longer and more complex software engineering tasks.
OpenAI indicates that Astra is its first model to be deployed on a large scale and to reach the "critical level" of network security capabilities. According to the company, this means that once the model has access to the corresponding tools and permissions, it can identify previously unknown security vulnerabilities and develop new ways to exploit systems with stronger protections, without the need for manual instruction at each step.

This summer, after a major security alert with the wallet COLDCARD, a group of Bitcoin developers and researchers organized a team known as “Bitcoin Red Team”.
