Chirantan “CJ” Desai to step down as President and CEO
Dev Ittycheria appointed as Interim President and Chief Executive Officer
New York, September 28 (Reuters) / PRNewswire / -- MongoDB, Inc. (Nasdaq ticker: MDB) Today, it was announced that Chirantan " CJ " Desai has resigned from his position as President and Chief Executive Officer of MongoDB, effective immediately. Desai will leave to join Meta Platforms, Inc, to take on a senior role.
The board of directors has appointed Dev Ittycheria as the interim president and chief executive officer, effective from today as well. Ittycheria served as the president and chief executive officer of MongoDB from 2014 to 2025, for a period of 11 years. Under his leadership, MongoDB grew from an early disruptor to a global technology leader, with annual revenue increasing from approximately 35 million US dollars to over 2.3 billion US dollars.
The chairman of the board, Tom Killalea, stated: “MongoDB has a very strong business, and there is no more suitable candidate than Dev Ittycheria to temporarily take on the role of President and CEO. He understands this company very well and has been an active member of the executive board over the past year. He will immediately take over to ensure a smooth transition.”

The board of directors has initiated a process to find the next permanent CEO for MongoDB and has hired a executive headhunting firm to assist in this process.
