Seoul, South Korea, and San Mateo, California, USA, September 29th / PRNewswire / -- Dinari Inc, a financial infrastructure company that provides tokenized stock issuance, distribution, and trading services, ( Dinari ) announced today that it has reached a strategic partnership with Kakaopay Securities, a leading mobile-first securities company in South Korea, to enhance the international accessibility of listed stocks in South Korea, including their accessibility in the US market, through tokenization.

Kakaopay Securities and Dinari will collaborate to establish a framework for acquiring underlying Korean listed stocks, conduct proof-of-concept for their tokenization, and form a joint working group to assess the operational, technical, and regulatory requirements necessary for potential international distribution.

Both parties will explore the application of the dShares ™ model of Dinari to Korean listed stocks. The dShares ™ adopts a custodial model, where each token is supported one-to-one by the corresponding underlying security, with the aim of preserving the applicable shareholder rights, including dividend and voting rights. The two companies will assess the technical and operational requirements for applying this model to Korean listed stocks, as well as the framework for distribution through Dinari within their network of partners in the US and international markets.

This collaboration aims to explore additional channels for Korean listed companies to enable investors outside of Korea to access their stocks. Currently, international investors have limited avenues to obtain Korean stocks; only a few Korean companies offer investment opportunities through depositary receipts listed on overseas exchanges. Tokenization could provide another method to connect Korean listed securities with international markets while maintaining a link to the underlying stocks.

"Through cooperation with Dinari, which has experience in operating tokenized securities within the US regulatory framework, we are working to establish a specific framework for the international distribution of Korean stocks," said Inyoung Chung, Executive Vice President of Kakaopay Securities. "We will start with the sources of Korean listed stocks, move on to the proof-of-concept of stock tokenization, carefully assess the technical feasibility, and help create new pathways to connect the stocks of leading Korean companies with the broader global market."

"South Korea has some of the most important listed companies in the world, but for many investors outside of South Korea, accessing Korean stocks is still limited," said Gabe Otte, CEO of Dinari. "Our collaboration with Kakaopay Securities is an opportunity to explore an infrastructure that can connect the South Korean public market with a broader global investor base. By combining Kakaopay Securities's expertise in the Korean market with Dinari's tokenization and distribution infrastructure, we can evaluate a model to increase the international accessibility of Korean stocks."

Dinari has established an infrastructure for tokenized stocks that covers issuance, distribution, and trading. Through dShares ™, Dinari provides 724 tokenized U.S. stocks and ETF to qualified investors in the United States as well as investors from over 85 judicial jurisdictions around the world. dShares ™ is designed to preserve shareholders' rights and protections, including dividends, corporate actions, and voting rights where applicable, while also supporting NBBO trading and redemption.

As part of the collaboration, Dinari and Kakaopay Securities plan to establish a joint working group later this year to further refine the operational framework and proof-of-concept design. The related work will involve researching token issuance and redemption backed by underlying stocks, reconciliation between tokenized securities and underlying securities, handling of applicable shareholder rights, as well as the infrastructure required for potential distribution through the Dinari partner network.
