HCLTech released what it calls its first AI synthetic research report, titled " Hidden In Pl ( AI )n Sight ". This report is based on a survey of 1,066 representative profiles in the AI field, which correspond to senior decision-makers in the wealth management industry from 17 global markets.

The report indicates that 84% of global wealth management companies believe their business models need to be completely restructured in order to fully unleash the potential of AI. This also suggests that the key to AI transformation lies not just in adopting technology, but in redesigning how businesses operate, compete, and grow. The study also found that although 98% of industry management teams are actively pursuing work related to AI, only slightly over 7% of the teams are actively developing proxy-based AI capabilities.

This study indicates that wealth management companies face three major gaps when transforming their enthusiasm for AI into measurable business results:

  • AmbitionThe company acknowledges the need for transformation, but still primarily uses the AI budget to improve efficiency.
  • ImplementationSubstantial investment in technology has not been accompanied by an equal level of investment in proprietary customer data and analysis, which are the true competitive advantages.
  • StrategyCompanies are tracking the adoption of AI, but they have not measured its impact on growth, revenue, and customer base.

HCLTech, the head of global financial services business growth, Srinivasan Seshadri stated: "There is no issue with investment in this industry; rather, there is a choice to be made. Almost all wealth management companies are investing in AI. However, there are far fewer companies that can clearly articulate which projects they are funding, to what extent AI is truly integrated into their operational models, or that are aware that the truly important outcomes are new customer value, growth, and revenue models. Our research finds that 84% of executives wish to undergo a deep transformation, but only 12% are measuring the additional revenue that such a transformation should bring. This is precisely the weak link that the ultimate winners will address first."

HCLTech indicates that this research combines the scale, speed, and analytical capabilities of AI with a fundamental element: profound human expertise. Industry practitioners, researchers, and domain experts have played an active role throughout the process. They continuously questioned assumptions, provided additional context, and rigorously verified conclusions to ensure that the results are not only innovative but also grounded in real-world industry experience.

HCLTech, the Global Marketing Director, stated: "This research represents a new analytical approach. AI provides us with scale and speed, while human expertise ensures that each conclusion is credible and reliable. The possibilities are greatly increased when working in conjunction with human expertise, and this is precisely the type of capability we intend to further develop internally."

The report states that companies that will be able to establish a sustainable competitive advantage are those that can combine AI with their most unique asset: decades of proprietary customer experience. Executives believe that first-hand data and behavioral data have more differentiated value than technical infrastructure, cloud platforms, or AI partners; at the same time, nearly 80% of respondents believe that future industry leaders will be those companies that are best at coordinating AI, human expertise, and ecosystem partners. Regionally, Asia-Pacific has the highest level of confidence at 89%, followed by North America at 84%, while Europe lags behind at 38.3%, reflecting significant differences in preparedness and transformation pace among different markets.

Editor's Note: The new research model driven by AI

This report was completed in collaboration by HCLTech and Evidenza, and to date, it is one of the most comprehensive synthetic research applications in the wealth management industry.

According to HCLTech, this approach accurately reflects the company's practice of recommending products to customers: AI is responsible for scaling up, while human judgment is used at critical moments. AI is not intended to replace traditional professional knowledge, but rather to enhance and expand it; domain experts have participated in the definition of profiles, research, development, and validation of results.

Therefore, this study not only provides a new approach to understanding complex industries but also offers a practical example of responsible use of AI. By combining the analysis of AI with human expertise, the study demonstrates how organizations can enhance their analytical capabilities without compromising on trust, rigor, and transparency.

The report ultimately concludes that the companies capable of establishing a sustainable competitive advantage are not necessarily those that use AI most frequently, but rather those that can combine AI with their most unique strengths, including a deep understanding of customers, human expertise, and strong ecosystem partnerships.

Bitcoin is expected to record a rare rise in September, despite rising bond yields
Bitcoin rose by about 7% in September. If it closes higher this month, it will be the first time since 2013 that Bitcoin has continued to rise in September following an increase in August, marking three consecutive months of gains. The article states that the fourth quarter is historically the strongest quarter for Bitcoin, but factors such as rising global bond yields, high oil prices, and Anthropic's plans for IPO in November, as well as the U.S. mid-term elections, may test its momentum going forward.
