Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, September 29th / PRNewswire / -- Hamilton Lane (Nasdaq ticker: HLNE) announced today that Executive Co-Chairman Mario Giannini will retire effective March 31, 2027. This retirement will mark the end of his more than thirty-year tenure with the company and also signifies the conclusion of a career that has had a lasting impact on Hamilton Lane as well as the broader private equity industry.

Giannini joined Hamilton Lane in 1993 and was the company's third employee. During his tenure, he played a key role in shaping the company's strategy and growth, including promoting the expansion of new business lines and geographical regions, as well as assisting the company in completing its initial public offering in 2017. He served as CEO from 2001 to 2023, after which he was appointed as Executive Co-Chairman, and was succeeded by Hamilton Lane, who is currently the Executive Co-Chairman along with Juan Delgado - Moreira and Erik Hirsch.

Giannini's influence extends far beyond his leadership over Hamilton Lane. He has become one of the most recognizable and thought-provoking voices in the private equity market, known for his straightforward style, independent perspective, and willingness to challenge traditional thinking. His views are based on a pragmatic understanding of the market, and he always pays attention to what data can support and what it cannot.

Over the years, Giannini has also authored the annual "Market Overview" for Hamilton Lane, analyzing market conditions, industry trends, and the forces that may shape the private equity market in the coming years. He has also written additional market commentary during important periods, including during the COVID-19 pandemic and more recently regarding tariff policies. His writing often reflects interests beyond investment, among which is his long-standing passion for music. Giannini is a skilled guitarist and serves as the lead guitarist in The Hamiltones, the company band of Hamilton Lane, which raises funds for local non-profit organizations.

Hirsch and Delgado-Moreira represent that: Mario is a true legend in our industry. He has always been one of the most important voices in the private equity market, as well as a provider of a much-needed perspective, rationality, and sometimes even sanity. When Mario speaks, the market listens; his name has become synonymous with the private equity market and Hamilton Lane.

"The company led by him today represents the vision and leadership he brought to its development; the company currently manages and provides consulting services for assets worth over one trillion dollars on behalf of its clients. We are grateful for his guidance, advice, and friendship, and look forward to continuing to move forward on the foundation he has helped to lay. We wish him all the best in this well-deserved retirement."

Giannini When I joined Hamilton Lane in 1993, we were just a small team, but we had grand ideas about the private equity market. It is a great honor in my career to see the company grow into a global platform serving thousands of clients.

"I am incredibly proud of everything we have built together, and I look forward to continuing to maintain a close connection with the company as well as the market that I love so much."

Until the retirement date, Giannini will continue to carry out his work according to his regular business trip arrangements and will write Hamilton Lane's 2027 Market Overview. After Giannini retires, Hartley Rogers, who currently serves as co-executive chairman with him, will continue to hold the positions of executive chairman and chairman of the board of directors for Hamilton Lane.
