Charleston, West Virginia, September 29th / PRNewswire / -- A non-profit organization BCTCares Foundation, initiated and operated by employees of Potomac Bank ( OTCID : PTBS ), recently announced that its annual Pack the ' Pack fundraising event has broken the annual fundraising record, raising $120,000 to support local charities that help address food shortages for children and their families. This year's fundraising amount surpassed last year's record of $104,000.
The mission of the project is to collaborate with four local non-profit organizations, all of which are located in the markets served by Potomac Bank. These partners focus on providing nutritious food for children, individuals, and families who do not have access to safe food. This year, each partner organization will receive a donation of $30,000 to provide critical funds for purchasing food, which is enough to fill more than 11,000 backpacks, with each backpack providing food for a child for two days (over the weekend). This fundraising campaign is held annually from July 1st to August 31st. Donations come from bank customers, suppliers, employees, and board members, as well as residents of the communities surrounding the branches and offices in Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia.
Since its establishment in 2019, BCTCares Foundation has donated a total of $601,000 to address local food insecurity issues, particularly those concerning children's food safety.
Potomac Bank President and CEO Alice P. Frazier said, "I find it difficult to put into words the pride, gratitude, and respect I feel for every participant in this year's record-breaking fundraising event. This year's success belongs to many people. Our employees, customers, suppliers, and community members came together around this effort, and their generosity and dedication inspire us every day. I am deeply grateful to everyone who provided funding, volunteer services, or contributed their professional expertise. Your support is changing lives, helping more children in our community overcome food shortages, and bringing hope to families in our communities. This achievement powerfully reminds us of what we can achieve when we all come together for a greater goal."
During the Pack the Pack event, BCTCares collaborated with local backpack project non-profit organizations, which used the donations to purchase and distribute food. The partners of the local backpack project include:
